#EventInReview: SocialWest and The Hashtag Awards 2017

*Photo Credit: Neil Zeller The Hashtag Awards were not only the kick off to SocialWest 2017, but spectacular awards created to honour the work done by Western Canadian business this year. As Mike said, the social and digital work being done in the West is often overshadowed and under -celebrated because we’re do-ers, not promoters. Well, no longer! The Hashtag Awards were held at the history Palace Theatre (formerly Flames Central), and featured 8 categories. Great food, Wild Rose Brews and hundreds of SocialWest-ers filled the joint to champion the best of the digital west. Check out the Facebook post below for a full report of the winners and a highlight video produced by our friends at Full Swing Productions. #Repost @boomgoesthedrum ・・・ 10 minutes until we open the doors… go time! #SocialWest #palacetheatre #HashtagAwards #yyc 📸 @neil_zee A post shared by Yyc events (@yycevents_) on Jun 14, 2017 at 6:20pm PD Yaass! #BoomGoesOut: Contemporary Calgary Patio Party 2017

An invite to a patio party? You know what that means… Summer is officially here! This June, we attended Contemporary Calgary‘s Patio Party. CC’s loading dock was transformed into an urban lounge, with disco balls and video projections.  The evening kicked off with a talk on social spaces and urbanism by FRANK Architecture & Interiors, whose projects include some of Calgary’s chicest new bars and restaurants. Afterwards, the patio was open and drinks, music, and food completed the celebratory evening. Despite an Environment Canada thunderstorm warning, the art and party enthusiasts could not be deterred – the beat went on indoors with DJ Sonidef and beer provided by Last Best Brewing & Distilling. Always a joy to hang out with our pals at Contemporary Calgary. Happy Summer everyone!    Not Over You by @mark.clintberg. I 🖤 Canadian contemporary art. Our patio party will be moving indoors tonight and will feature a talk from @_frankarchitecture, @djsonidef will be spinning some beats, and we’ll be pouring @lastbestbrew! #yycnow #yycevents #yycpatio #yycarts A post shared by Contemporary Calgary (@contemporarycalgary) on Jun 8, 2017 at 3:15pm...

#EventInReview: GOLF2017 for Contemporary Calgary

Contemporary Calgary is really swingin’. They have more public programming and events than ever (check out the June happenings here) and since the last time they gathered friends and family on the Elbow Springs links in 2016 they hosted #LOOK2016 and raised a record $3 Million to support the opening of Calgary’s first significant public destination for modern and contemporary art. FORE! Boom was once again pleased and proud to produce #GOLF2017 at Elbow Springs. The event took place June 6 under clear skies with over 130 golfers – all there to swing hard, shake hands, and raise some money to support Contemporary Calgary. We proud to say the event raised over $50,000 for CC. *Below Photo Credit: LeBlond Studio It’s a beautiful day at @ElbowSprings for #GOLF2017 supporting @C_Calgary! pic.twitter.com/Qe49oKLHiy — Boom Goes The Drum (@boomgoesthedrum) June 6, 2017 #Regram from @contemporarycalgary: It’s a beautiful day for #GOLF2017! Event Preview: SocialWest 2017

Photo credit: Neil Zeller “SocialWest is the largest social media and digital marketing conference on the prairies” That’s the official tagline for SocialWest. It’s great, don’t get us wrong, but it’s not how we’d put it… Ahem. “SocialWest is a 2-day conference and 3-day networking fest that attracts the most talented, curious, and creative digital comms professionals in this country to an incredible venue and actually learn, study, and share what matters right now to do their jobs better.” Whew. That felt good. SocialWest will once again blow minds without buzzwords at the Globe Cinema, June 14-16. Returning to the agenda are two days of speakers who bring the goods and new this year is an expanded welcome party to kick off the event, featuring The Hashtag Awards, SocialWest’s premiere social and digital marketing award’s show for Western Canadian businesses and agencies. The schedule is online now (and on the app!). Bonus for us, we get to listen to speakers from Google, Facebook, Twitter, and more present topics like: How to interpret analytics and metrics to make strategic decisions and be a better storyteller How do you measure the success of working with influencers A survival guide for producing social media in a post truth world The state of digital in Western Canada – 2017 – consumer habits & trends Social media strategy: how to promote your perfect post Not to mention you’ll get to enjoy Beer Breaks, Gelato Breaks, Coffee Receptions, After Parties and more.
