Every few months Alberta’s social entrepreneurs come together to pitch the best of their ideas to a panel of discerning judges, in the hopes of winning $1,000.00. It’s called BoostR Stage, and on Dec. 2 it was hosted by the Theatre Grand, and featured local non-profits and social companies.
What sets BoostR apart from other live-pitch-events is the degree of audience participation. In addition to food and drink, every guest’s ticket gives them $20 to ‘boost’ their favourite business. Interactive, social, and locally supported, BoostR is a great opportunity to invest in those who are changing lives and our society for the better, through the core of their business operations. “Through day-to-day business operations, they inevitably create positive social impact locally or globally – the social and financial outcomes of their organization are tied together.”
From a production perspective, we can’t help but love an experience like BoostR. It brings together so many of the elements we look for in an event: entrepreneurship, community-centered, and interactivity.
The face that it’s all hosted under the theatrical and historic Theatre Grande roof is just the icing on a production cake.
On Dec. 2, after an inspiring evening of passionate pitches, Mindful Mental Training took home the grand prize, which they will use to further their work on reducing the financial and personal cost of stigma, stress and depression in the workplace.
Want to pitch? Want to boost? Excited? Consider yourself invited. BoostR wants you– the influencer, innovator, community builder, entrepreneur, philanthropist – to join them in celebrating Alberta’s social entrepreneurs. Follow their Facebook page for regular updates on how you can get involved!
