Last Friday the Bill Brooks Prostate Cancer Benefit enjoyed its 18th annual fundraiser, with the support of over 600 Calgarians who came decked out in various states of tin and ruby shoes, in accordance with the “Billy of Oz” theme. While the largest one-night prostate cancer fundraiser in Canada, this evening has earned a reputation for being heavy on theme, and light on long-winded speeches.
With Safeway as the returning presenting sponsor, and a volunteer committee that boasts David Cross on decor, Lynn Garrison Thomas on auction, and Larry Classen as the Honorary Chair, we weren’t surprised by the caliber of the event, and the fantastic transformation of Hotel Arts.
More than $7.7 million has been raised over the last 18 years of this impressive events lifespan. This is in part due to the stunning auction items seen each year. This go-round guests were teased with dreams of a drool-worthy 2016 Camaro, a sleek 2016 Harley Davidson and two return tickets to anywhere WestJet flies. In addition, our friends at Givergy were in attendance with their silent auction auction software, which helped make the silent auction fun and competitive.
Boom was honoured to be in attendance and to support this worthy, local-based event. For more information or to further support the fight against prostrate cancer, click Here.
