Boom Goes Out: Black and White Ball 2016

Decidedly Jazz Dancework‘s hosted The Black and White Ball, this past weekend, and monochrome never looked so good. The newly annual event took place once again in the luxurious Fairmont Palliser in downtown  Calgary, where guests enjoyed an evening of high flying heels and shimmying shoulders set beneath the Palliser’s glittering chandeliers.

Spectacular pop-up performances by core groups of some of the company’s most talented dancers delighted attendees as they wandered throughout the Palliser’s various ballrooms. As fans of tasteful juxtaposition in events, we particularly loved the ironic use of neon costuming for the dancers, which popped with delicious vibrancy against the sleek black and white dress of most of the guests. A general 20’s theme bedecked most of the attendees, which- thanks to DJD’s flapper-inspired promotions- has fast become a sort of assumed dress code for attendees; fluttering peacock feathers and softly shining strings of pearls were in generous supply.
