Every once in a while we get the opportunity to collaborate with a couple to create something truly special. That is exactly what happened last year when we worked with Brynne and Tom to bring their vision to life.
Brynne and Tom came to Boom Goes The Drum with a clear sense of what they were looking for in terms of aesthetic. We focused in on Brynne’s impeccable sense of style to create a day that reflected her traditional sensibilities blended with a well-traveled, polished, modern approach.
The starting point for the day was the lush late summer garden at Rouge located on the banks of the Bow River in Calgary’s historic Inglewood neighborhood. One of the challenges of an outdoor venue is that it requires a lot of imagination; to stand in a space and picture what it will look like once the snow has melted and mother nature has delivered her own floral arrangements. This is exactly what we did:
Working closely with Brynne, we quickly landed on a creative direction that we dubbed French Laundry, in homage to the three star Michelin restaurant located in Yountville, The French Laundry. This restaurant design is quaint, yet sophisticated and just happens to be in the midst of wine country. Yountville (the heart of Napa Valley) and French Laundry design embodied Brynne’s chic style, old world charm, outdoor living, and delectable food and wine.
With the charm of a century old historic house already built into our design, we went about creating a floor plan which included a tent, food stations and casual seating that invited guests to meander through the Victorian Garden setting.
Simple florals, by Designing on The Edge, in French clotches atop antique furniture from Uniquities and custom made tables created inviting spaces around the property and inside the house, making the event a evening of casual exploration and completed by food and beverage from one of the top 100 restaurants in the world.
A special note: Thank you Brynne and Tom for sharing your wedding with us. Bringing your passion and vision to life was a highlight of our summer.

We knew that Brynne’s classic style was au courant so it was no surprise to see Idina Menzel perform at the Oscars 7 months later in the exact same dress.
